Bangladesh have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match bilateral series after a thumping seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the first T20I match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.
The Litton Das-led Bangla side asked tourists to bat first after winning the toss and restricted them to 110 runs after a brilliant performance by seam bowlers.
Pakistan: Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Haris(w), Hasan Nawaz, Salman Agha(c), Mohammad Nawaz, Khushdil Shah, Faheem Ashraf, Abbas Afridi, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed
Bangladesh: Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Litton Das(w/c), Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman
Saim Ayub could only make six runs off four balls. Pakistan lost four wickets inside the powerplay. Fakhar Zaman made 44 runs off 34 balls to take his team to a respectable total, but he also got involved in a run-out.
Khushdil Shah (17 off 23 balls) and Abbas Afridi (22 off 24 balls) were the only other two batters to score in double digits for Pakistan. It was the first occasion in a T20 international when Bangladesh took all the wickets of Pakistan. They were restricted to 110 runs.
Taskin Ahmed took three wickets, whereas Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took one wicket each. Mustafizur Rahman's bowling figure of 4-0-6-2 was the outstanding performance.
In response, Pakistan's Salman Mirza dismissed Tanzid Hasan Tamim in the first over and got rid of Litton Das in his next over. After that, Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy (36 off 37 balls) added 73 runs for the third wicket.
Emon made an unbeaten 56-run knock off 36 balls. This was his second T20I half-century. Jaker Ali played a quick cameo of 15 runs off 10 balls to take Bangladesh past the line.
Parvez Hossain Emon was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock. The second T20I will be played on Tuesday, 22 July at the same venue.
