The United States has appointed senior diplomat Megan Bouldin as Charge d'Affaires at its Kathmandu embassy to lead flood relief and recovery operations.
The confirmed death toll from Nepal's August 26 flash floods reached 1,357 on Tuesday, with search teams looking for 5,326 missing individuals including 64 Americans.
Megan Bouldin will collaborate with Deputy Chief of Mission Scott Urbom to coordinate response measures and assist flood-hit US citizens.
