Through Imran's (Farhan Akhtar) relentless jokes and the group's refusal to treat the expensive bag with reverence, Bagwati transformed into one of Hindi cinema's most memorable running gags. But beneath the humour sat something surprisingly familiar.
Bagwati represented how the Indian middle class often encounters luxury.
