At least three people have been arrested in connection with attack on a 22-year-old man, who was accused of being a part of the conspiracy to spread novel coronavirus, in Delhi's Bawana.

The victim, identified as Mehboob Ali, a resident of Harewali village in Bawana, has been admitted to the LNJP Hospital as a COVID-19 suspect, according to the FIR registerd in the case. "He is fine and being kept in Corona isolation centre," the report further said.

Speaking to Outlook, the police said there was nothing major and it was just a rumour. "We have admitted him to the LNJP hospital and he is doing fine," an official at the Bawana police station said. He added that they spoke to Ali this morning and he said he was fine.

Ali had gone to Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal for a Tablighi Jamaat conference and returned to the national capital recently. He was held at the Azadpur vegetable market and released after a medical examination.

Police said when he reached his village, rumours spread that Ali had a plan to spread coronavirus, according to PTI. He was thrashed in the fields on Sunday.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
