And that did happen with the likes of Jason Roy, Liam Plunkett, Morne Morkel and someone like Shaun Marsh going unsold.

Roy tweeted "Massive shame not to be involved in the @IPL this year but wanted to congratulate all the lads that did get picked up. Especially some of the high rollers. Going to be good to watch."

Even an IPL veteran Shaun Marsh, who came into limelight with his exploits in this cash-rich league while playing for Punjab Kings (KXIP), was unsold.

Australia's limited-over captain Aaron Finch was also unsold by the end of auction. Finch was part of RCB in 2020 IPL.

Others who missed finding any team were Alex Carey, Marnus Labuchagne, James Faulkner, Sturat Binny, Hanuma Vihari, Matthew Wade and Sandeep Lamichhane.

Vihari wrote 'LOL' after going unsold.
