Eve-teasing, sexual harassment, passing vulgar comments, are some of the evils prevailing in the society. What is even more worrying is that a lot of the time, such acts go unpunished – they’re either taken lightly or are not deemed as serious enough to warrant strict action.

However, to set an example for such people, two men in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas were made to do sit-ups for allegedly harassing women on street.

"The two were catcalling women passing by and made it difficult for them to step out of their houses," lady constable Manisha said.

"We had to do this to set an example that such behaviour towards women will not be tolerated. We also took out their public procession," she added.

The men allegedly misbehaved with the lady police constable as well.

In the video, lady constable Manisha was also seen punishing the alleged accused by using her lathi on them.

According to the latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), India recorded 88 rape cases every day in 2019. The north western state of Rajasthan reported almost 6,000 rape cases in 2019, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 3,065 cases.
