Shiromani Akali Dal Announces Four More Candidates For Upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections

The party would be contesting the election in coalition with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). As per the seat-sharing arrangement, Mayawati-led BSP would be allotted 20 seats, the rest would be contested by SAD.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal fielded more four more candidates for the Punjab assembly polls scheduled for next year. The latest addition takes the tally of finalised candidates to 74. SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema announced the finalised names of the candidates on Tuesday.

Former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Gobind Singh Longwal would be contesting from Lehra, Hardev Singh Megh would contest from Balluana, Baldev Singh Mann from Sunai while Harpal Junerja would contest from Patiala Urban. 

The party would be contesting the election in coalition with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). As per the seat-sharing arrangement, Mayawati-led BSP would be allotted 20 seats to compete, the rest would be contested by SAD.

The total number of seats in the Punjab state assembly is 117. The tenure of the present dispensation led by the Indian National Congress expires on March 27, 2022.
