Outlook SpeakOut: Reimagining Odisha is an event where elected public representatives, officials, intellectuals, academicians and thought leaders will engage and enlighten us on how Odisha can tap its true potential and become the growth engine for India.

The challenges are many. But the goal is one: To reimagine an Odisha that will fire the imagination of the world.

The chief guest for the event is Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gases and Skill Development.

Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, will deliver the key note address.

The reason for lack of entrepreneurial culture in Odisha: The peer group to support entrepreneurship doesn't exist, says Mukti Kanta Mishra.


When asked why Odisha doesn't have many entrepreneurs, Sukirti Patnaik, founder @IndulgeTheSalon says: "The reason is we first need to dream. We should start teaching about entrepreneurship in schools and colleges."


Business and entrepreneurship is not just about hard work, it's about building culture of risk taking, which is hugely lacking in most people, especially women, says Jagi Panda.

On being asked how do you reimagine Odisha, Archita Sahu says "Odia has so many natural resources and acting talents; Odia film industry should grow so that it can contribute to the state's economy."


"Odia culture is very rich. There are so many popular Odia novels; there is no dearth of subjects to make different Odia cinema," says Babushaan.

Compared to the past, it is easier to make movies now. People can easily connect to the stars through social media. The reach of entertainment industry has also increased because of modern technology, says @babushaansai.


I want to see women raise their voices and speakout for themselves, says Archita Sahu.

"It is not that Odisha does not have the capacity or vision...We should be far more impatient if we want to move fast," he added.


The politicians and planners have developed a habit of blaming our predecessors. They haven't taken up the best of the past 60 years, says Panchanan Kanungo, Former Finance Minister, Odisha.


"We should try to focus on making Odisha the Germany of India", says Aparajita Sarangi.

1) Tourism

2) Outward Migration

3) Garments


 We have embarked on a connectivity resolution. Aviation is an example on how there has been revolution in connectivity, says Jayant Sinha.


Earlier, flying was considered only for the elite. Today, it has become mass services, says MoS Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha.
