Govt Issues Guidelines For 'Unlock 1': Here's What's Allowed And What's Not

The Home Ministry on Saturday issued guidelines for re-opening of economic and other activities for one month across the country after the fourth period of lockdown comes to an end on May 31. 

However, lockdown will continue to remain in force till June 30 in Covid-19 containment zones that will be demarcated by district authorities. Only essential activities will be allowed in such places.

In the first phase of 'Unlock 1', a host of activities have been allowed from June 8 whereas the rest are subject to assessment during Phase 2 and 3. 

What's Allowed:

- Religious places of worship for public can open from June 8.

- Hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services can resume from June 8.

- Shopping malls will be allowed to open from June 8.

- No restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods. Additionally, no pass will be required for the same. If states or UTs want to restrict movements of persons, it will have announce that in advance with wide publicity.

- Schools, colleges and educations institutions will be opened after consultation with States and Union Territories and a decision on this will be taken in July during Phase 2.

What's Not Allowed: 

- Night curfew timing has been revised; now movement of individuals is prohibited between 9 pm and 5 am across the country.

- Decision on restarting international air travel, Metro trains, cinema halls, gym, and political gathering will be taken after assessing the situation in Phase 3.
