India is in the middle of a period when respiratory infections are drawing renewed attention, with H1N1 flu cases rising in Delhi, Bengaluru and other parts of the country. For travellers, the news may bring back memories of the pandemic years, but there is no need to press pause on your travel plans. Instead, it is worth being more mindful of the places where infections can spread easily and the simple precautions that can lower your risk.

Delhi has recorded more than 1,777 H1N1 cases, according to recent reports, while Influenza A cases in the capital have crossed 2,300. With airports, railway stations, Metro trains, buses and tourist attractions bringing large numbers of people together, travellers may find themselves spending considerable time in crowded environments.
