An FIR has been registered under section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66 (A) (sending offensive messages through communication service) of the IT Act on a complaint filed by the former cricketer’s personal assistant at the West Region Cyber police station on Tuesday, the official said.

The report comes after the former cricketer featured on the video talking about his daughter Sara Tendulkar earning money by playing on the gaming app. However, it has been learned that despite the lodged FIR, the owner of the gaming site and its Meta page are yet to be identified.

After watching the clip online, Tendulkar took to X (formerly Twitter) to point out loopholes in the usage of technology and informed his followers that the video is fake.

“These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes,” Tendulkar tweeted recently.
