Rohit Sharma on Wednesday shocked the cricketing world, when he announced his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect ending all speculations about his future in the longest format. (More Cricket News)
"Hello everyone, I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It's been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites.
"Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format," he posted on instagram with a picture of his Test cap after PTI's newsbreak.

Rohit made his Test debut on November 6, 2013 against West Indies at the Eden Gardens. The Test match would go down as a special one for the right-handed batter, as he scored a century on debut, hitting a marvelous 177.
Since then, Rohit represented India in 67 Test matches, scoring 4302 runs at an average of 40.57. He racked up 12 tons along the way and also scored 18 half-centuries, with a highest-individual score of 212.
Rohit also captained India in 23 Tests, taking over the reins of the team from Virat Kohli in 2022. India won 12 Test matches under his leadership.
Rohit has scored twin centuries in a single Test against South Africa in 2019 and moreover, has recorded a maiden overseas ton (127) against England at The Oval in 2021.
However, Rohit's form took a dip in Test matches as India lost 0-3 to New Zealand last year followed by a 3-1 series defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
