Pakistan have unveiled a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, marking Mike Hesson’s first assignment as head coach.
All three matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the schedule set to be announced soon.
Several senior players continue to be left out, with former captain Babar Azam, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, and fast bowler Shaheen Afridi all missing from the lineup.
The series will see Pakistan field a new-look side as they build under fresh leadership.
Pakistan have opted for continuity in leadership, retaining batter Salman Ali Agha as captain for the T20I series against Bangladesh, with all-rounder Shadab Khan named vice-captain. The squad also features experienced campaigners in white-ball cricket, including Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.
However, the absence of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi remains the biggest talking point. The selectors have justified their choices by pointing to performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, signalling a clear intent to reward recent form over reputation.
