Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has heaped praises on Sarfaraz Khan's body transformation, after the latter reportedly lost 17kgs to sport a trim look ahead of the busy domestic season. Sarfaraz Khan's domestic form has been so consistent over the years, it earned him a spot in the national side.
Despite being a consistent run-getter, Sarfaraz's weight has caught everyone's eyes especially his critics who have called him out to regain fitness and earn back his spot in the side.
Though Sarfaraz did make the cut in the Indian team back in 2024, he has not managed to cement his place in the playing XI.
“Outstanding effort, young man! Huge congrats, and I’m sure it’s going to lead to better and more consistent performances on the field. I love the time you’ve spent reorganising your priorities! LFG! Can someone show Prithvi this, please? It can be done! Strong body, strong mind," Pietersen tweeted on Monday afternoon.
Pietersen, who himself is a fitness freak, praised Sarfaraz's body transformation and aimed a sly dig at Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz's Mumbai teammate.
Prithvi has been out of the national side reckoning for quite sometime and most cricket analysts believe the Mumbai-batter needs to shed weight and work on his fitness, if he has to work his way back to the national team.
Speaking of Prithvi, the out-of-favour batter will be representing Maharashtra in the upcoming domestic season. In June, Prithvi sought NOC from Mumbai to switch sides, which was approved later in the month.
“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years," Shaw had said in a statement.
