Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President KT Rama Rao charged at Congress claiming that their rule in India has been full of "fraud, deceit and treachery”. His reaction came a day after Congress announced six guarantees ahead of the upcoming polls in the state to which Rao said that the “intelligent Telangana will not believe the lies and fictitious guarantees".
In a message posted on social media platform X, the Telangana minister also satirically said if the "tricolour chameleon" (referring to the Congress flag) is believed, then the removal of free power to farmers is guaranteed.
“The rule of vultures comes, the abolition of Rythu Bandhu is guaranteed..! If the regime of kalakeyas (demons) comes, power cuts and darkness (in the state) are guaranteed..!,” he said in a poetic manner in Telugu.
If the “puppets of Delhi” come to power, then there is a guarantee that the self-esteem of Telangana is pledged, he further mocked.
What did Congress promise?
In the run-up to the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, the Congress on Sunday announced six guarantees, including a promise of 2,500 per month, gas cylinders at 500 per woman, and 200 units of free electricity to all households, if the party comes to power in the state.
The first guarantee is "Indiramma Indlu" under which Rs 5 lakh will be given for the construction of a house to all those who do not have one. Under this scheme, a 250-square-yard house would also be given to those who fought in the Telangana statehood movement.
Under the "Mahalakshmi" guarantee, the party promises women Rs 2,500 per month, a gas cylinder for Rs 500 and free travel in buses, reportedly.
The third guarantee is "Gruha Jyoti" and under this, 200 unit free electricity will be given to all households.
Under the fourth guarantee, "Yuva Vikasam", the party promises Rs 5 lakh assistance for education in college and financial aid in coaching.
After that, a Rs 4,000 monthly pension for the elderly and Rs 10 lakh Rajiv Arogyasri insurance would be given under the fifth guarantee "Cheyutha".
Finally, the sixth guarantee is "Rythu Bharosa", under which Rs 15,000 would be given to farmers and Rs 12,000 to farm labourers annually.
