Gujarat: Fire Breaks Out At A Hospital In Ahmedabad, 100 Patients Evacuated

A multi-storied hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat caught fire in its basement on Sunday and 100 patients were evacuated from the facility.

A fire broke out at a multi-storey hospital in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, in its basement in the early hours of Sunday. As a precautionary measure, around 100 patients were evacuated from the facility.  

According to a PTI report, the fire broke out at around 4.30 am in the basement of Rajasthan Hospital which is located in the Sahibaug area of Ahmedabad and the Sahibaug Police is looking into the incident.

Police inspector MD Champavat told PTI, "Fire fighting teams are working to control the blaze. Smoke continues to emerge from the basement of the hospital where the fire broke out."

He further added, "Nearly 100 patients have been evacuated from the multi-storey building as a precautionary measure."

Reportedly the cause of the fire has not been ascertained as of yet. 

The hospital is reportedly run by a charitable trust.
