Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that PM Modi "insulted" him over the Nehru-Gandhi surname row while he was delivering a speech in Kerala. Gandhi lashed out over his Parliamentary speech on Adani at the Parliament being edited while Modi's words remained intact on the record.

“At the same time, the PM directly insults me. He asks why my surname is not Nehru but Gandhi. So the PM of the country directly insults me and his words are not removed. That does not matter. The truth always comes out. And all you have to do is look at my face while I spoke and his face when he did,” said the senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, according to a report by India Today.

He further added, "Generally, and maybe Mr Modi does not understand this, but generally in India, our surname is the surname of our father."

Gandhi went on to say that he did not make any derogatory comments against the prime minister but just showcased a few facts about Adani-Modi's relationship. "I pointed out how Mr Adani travelled with the prime minister to foreign countries and immediately after was rewarded by getting contracts in these countries," he said.

“Apparently, saying the names Adani and Ambani together is an insult to the PM. But you can see pictures of them together on the internet. You can see the PM flying in Mr Adani's plane. You can see him relaxing and laughing with Mr Adani,” he claimed, according to the report.

The Wayanad MP was on a visit to the house of a tribal man who was found dead near Kozhikode medical college recently. Vishwanathan (46) was found hanging near the medical college hospital in Kozhikode on February 11, where his wife was admitted for delivery.

Gandhi, who reached the Kozhikode airport on Sunday night, visited the house of Vishwanathan in Wayanad district this morning along with party leaders. Gandhi, who represents the Wayanad constituency in the Lok Sabha, spent some time with the family, listening to their woes and complaints and consoling them.
