Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short are returning for the fifth season of Only Murders in the Building. Season 5 of the Emmy-nominated hit comedy-drama series, is all set to premiere this September. On Wednesday, the official social media account of the show shared a hilarious video featuring Gomez, Martin and Short, where they revealed the Only Murders in the Building season 5 release date. The trio is back to solve yet another murder mystery in the apartment building, Arconia.
When and where Only Murders in the Building season 5 releasing?
The fifth season of the Hulu series will have its OTT release on September 9, 2025. It will be available to stream in India on JioHotstar. The first three episodes will be released on the premiere date, followed by the remaining episodes releasing weekly.
The promo video shows the trio returning with their trademark comic charm. While Gomez flawlessly says her dialogues, Martin cracks up, while trying to say his own name. "Why are you laughing at me?" Selena asks, to which Martin replies that he can't remember who he is, and Short jokingly says, "What, life?" They finally announce the show’s release date.
The official synopsis of Season 5 reads: "After their beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia. The trio discovers a deeper divide between their storied city they thought they knew and the new New York evolving around them — one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge."
Alongside Gomez, Martin and Short, the fifth season’s also stars Michael Cyril Creighton, with returning actors Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind, and Nathan Lane. Bobby Cannavale, Rene Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Ta Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler, are the new faces of the show.
Co-created by Martin and John Hoffman, Only Murders in the Building has become popular among audiences and critics since its premiere in 2021. The comic murder mystery has recently bagged seven nominations for the 2025 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series and more. My Best Friend’s Wedding, the tenth and final episode of Season 4, has been nominated for both directing and writing.
