In the teaser, we assumed Ibrahim Ali Khan to be the terrorist in the film, and the trailer also gives us a hint that he is indeed playing a negative character, who stands against his father Prithviraj Sukumaran's Vijay Menon, a decorated, duty-bound soldier. In the beginning of the trailer, we see Ibrahim's Harman has a troubled and complicated relationship with his father. Well, it is not revealed why he chooses to follow the wrong path. Kajol, who plays the mother, tries to mediate between the father and the son. There are some really emotional moments that will surely tear you up. Ibrahim has convinced with his screen presence and promises to deliver a powerful act unlike Naadaniyaan. His character has left audience intrigued and they are now eagerly waiting to see what new he brings to the table with Sarzameen.

The over two-minute long video opens with a voiceover by Prithviraj, saying, "Jaante ho, kuch ghaav aise hote hain… woh tab tak nahi bharte jab tak unki yaad nahi mit jaati (There are some wounds that don’t heal until their memories fade)." Next scene shows a wounded Ibrahim, in a deserted landscape. In another scene, Prithviraj interrogates young Harman, "Tumhe maara kyun nahi? Jawaab do Harman! (Why didn’t you hit back? Answer me!)"

We also hear Ibrahim voice saying, "Main jaanta hoon woh mujhe kamzor samajhte hain… shayad pyaar bhi nahi karte (I know he thinks I’m weak… maybe he doesn’t even love me)." Kajol, who tries to control the situation says, "Chahe ek bete ko jitna bhi pyaar maa se mile, banna woh hamesha apne baap jaisa chahta hai (No matter how much a mother loves her son, he always wants to be like his father)."

Towards the end, we see Ibrahim having a face-off with his father. Prithviraj says, "Sarzameen se badhkar mere liye kuch bhi nahi… chahe woh mera beta hi kyu na ho (Nothing comes before my country, not even my son)."

In one scene, when Prithviraj confronts Ibrahim, the former says, "This is not your son, Meher." He points his gun towards the latter and asks, "Who are you? I know you are not Harman." Kajol says she wants her son back.
