On a fascinating day of Test cricket at Ranchi's JSCA International Stadium, a visiting 19-year-old spinner toyed with the Indian batters, probably the best players of spin in the world, to register figures of 4/84 in an unbroken spell of 32 overs. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored with a well-compiled 73 off 117 balls even as Shoaib Bashir threatened to run over the Indian line-up. Then, an undefeated eight-wicket stand of 42 runs between Dhruv Jurel (30 off 58) and Kuldeep Yadav (17 off 72) halted England's charge. India lead the five-match series 2-1. I dedicate this to my father because it was his dream that his son does something in life. I couldn't do anything in his life (when he was alive), so this performance is for my father.

"Every cricketer has one dream, to play for India in Tests. That was also my dream," said the Bengal pacer who hails from Baddi village in Rohtas district of Bihar, about 300km from Ranchi.

Players are out in the middle. Ollie Robinson, on 31 off 60, will face Mohammed Siraj with Joe Root, unbeaten on 106 off 226, at the non-striker's end. India happy with the old ball. And 'Jerusalem' rings out...

Poor start from Mohammed Siraj. Down the leg and Ollie Robinson flicks it for a four. A dot, and India are done with the old ball. The new ball is taken.

England - 306/7 (90.2)

First big shout of the day from Mohammed Siraj. Wobble seam, and missing left. No review for India. Joe Root looks a little tentative. In the previous over, Akash Deep was caught overstepping again.

England - 312/7 (93)

Rohit Sharma introduces Ravindra Jadeja, and Ollie Robinson reaches his first-ever Test fifty with a four, to square leg. 53 in 81 balls, laced with nine fours and one six. The eight-wicket stand is already worth 86. Joe Root unbeaten on 108 off 236 (nine fours).

Robinson, 30, from Kent now has 405 runs in 20 Test.

England - 331/7 (95)

Now, England are in complete control. Joe Root punishes Mohammed Siraj. Short and wide, and Root plays a classical pull shot for a four and that brings up a 100-run stand for the eighth wicket. Second morning, and India are already missing a certain Jasprit Bumrah?

England - 345/7 (99.2)

Kuldeep Yadav on with his first over today. A floater and gets the outside edge. Rohit Sharma, at slip, almost got it. Joe Root survives on 119.

England - 347/7 (102)

Ollie Robinson goes for a reverse sweep and into the hands of Dhruv Jurel. No hesitation from Kumar Dharmasena. But Robinson takes the review. Replays show the ball missing the bat but brushing the glove. Robinson goes for 58 off 96.

A couple of balls later, Shoaib Bashir throws his wicket away. A thick edge to point, taken by Rajat Patidar, for a two-ball duck. James Anderson joins Joe Root (120 off 265).

England - 349/9 (102.4)

A maiden from Kuldeep Yadav. After the first hour, England are 352/9 in 104 overs. Morning started on a promising note for the visitors, but Ravindra Jadeja (3/66) struck twice in an over. Joe Root unbeaten on 121.

Ravindra Jadeja resumes the proceeding. A single off the fourth ball, thus exposing James Anderson. Looks like an easy decision, but Kumar Dharmasena takes his time. Given LBW. England take the review, a futile one. A four-ball duck. Joe Root returns unbeaten on 122 off 274 (10 fours). They were 112/5 in 25 overs on Day 1.

Four wickets for Jadeja (4/67). Debutant Akash Deep got three (3/83).

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma in the middle. James Anderson with the new ball. A packed slip cordon and also a deep short leg. A testing over from one of the greatest-ever pacers in the history of the game to a rising star. Jaiswal looks determined.

India - 0/0

Rohit Sharma gone for nine ball two! Caught behind. And wicket to James Anderson. The India skipper finds an edge, a faint one. Uncertain, and feet not moving. Not Test batting. Easy for the wicketkeeper. Shubman Gill is the new batter.

India - 4/1 (2.4)

The fourth Test match is finely poised at lunch on day 2 of the fourth Test match at Ranchi. Replying to England's 353, India are 34/1 with their previous match's double-centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal unbeaten on 27 with Shubman Gill giving him company. India lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma early on for 2.

Action resumes as India look to chase down England's target of 353 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill at the crease.

Shubman Gill plays a sublime straight drive for his third four. He reaches 20 in 47 and the second-wicket stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal (34 off 53) is now worth 53 in 92. India still trail by 296 runs.

India - 57/1 (18)

Yashasvi Jaiswal and England celebrating! Ollie Robinson managed to induce a faint edge and Ben Foakes claimed a caught behind. The onfield officials sought help from the third umpire, and it was ruled in favour of the batter. Close call. Jaiswal was on 40 off 60, and India 68/1 in 20 overs, still 285 runs behind.

Shoaib Bashir continues, on with his 9th over, and traps Shubman Gill (38 off 64) in front. Gill takes review, but the ball hitting leg stump. Sharp turn. India trail by 267 runs

Drinks!

Tom Hartley, left-arm spinner, gets his over. A dot and a single to mid-off. Yashasvi Jaiswal thus reaches his fifty (in 89 balls). His tally now is 595 runs in seven innings. Rajat Patidar (12 in 28) is giving him company in the middle. India still trail England by 248 runs.

India - 105/2 (31.2)

Shoaib Bashir claims his second. Another LBW decision. Rajat Patidar takes the review, and it's umpire's call. Clipping the leg stump. Patidar goes for 14 off 42.

India - 112/3 (34.3)

Ravindra Jadeja is the new man.

Ravindra Jadeja taking on Tom Hartley. Back-to-back sixes, off the fourth and fifth deliveries, then a block to end the 36th over. What triggered Jadega? Probably England's review for an LBW. India now trail England by 224 runs.

India - 129/3 (36)

And with those sixes, India's tally in the series reached 74, matching England's record maximums against Australia last year. Bazball, the keyword here.

Shoaib Bashir on with his 15th over, and he gets the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja for run-a-ball 12. Caught by Ollie Pope at forward short-leg. Sarfaraz Khan joins Yashasvi Jaiswal.

India - 130/4 (36.5)

A maiden from Tom Hartley to new man Sarfaraz Khan and it's tea in Ranchi. One gripping session of play with England, once again, fighting back to take control. India were going well with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in an 82-run stand. Then the hosts slipped to 131/4, still 222 runs behind with more than three days' play remaining. Jaiswal and Khan unbeaten on 54 and 1, respectively.

India - 131/4 (38)

Shoaib Bashir resumes proceedings with his 16th over, on the trot. And a single off the last ball as Yashasvi Jaiswal reaches his 600 runs in the series. Nice duel between the two youngsters.

Yashasvi Jaiswal cuts the first ball with some conviction, and four to third man. A couple of dots, then another four, this time over extra-cover. Nine from the over. Shoaib Bashir's figures: 3/44 in 18; Jaiswal unbeaten on 67 off 111. India trail by 207 runs.

India - 146/4 (43)

Massive wicket. Drags on and Yashasvi Jaiswal is gone for 73 off 117. Shoaib Bashir gets his man. India in big trouble. Still trail by 192 runs. Dhruv Jurel is the new man.

India - 161/5 (46.4)

Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir operating in tandem for England. The latter got the wicket of Sarfaraz Khan in his previous over for 14. And now a maiden to Ravichandran Ashwin. His figures: 1/29 in 12. India trail by 182 runs

India - 171/6 (54)

Tom Hartley continues and gets his second wicket, in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin (1 off 13). LBW, umpire's call --the ball keeping low and hitting leg.

India are 177/7 (55.2), trailing England by 176 runs.

65 overs in the innings and India are 206/7. A couple of singles from Shoaib Bashir, whose bowling figures now read: 4/79 in 29 overs. For India, Dhruv Jurel (21 off 39) and Kuldeep Yadav (15 off 43) are fighting hard. England still have a hefty lead, 147 to be precise.

James Anderson continues. A maiden to Kuldeep Yadav (17 off 67). India are still 136 runs behind, but this Kuldeep Yadav- Dhruv Jurel stand (40 in 87) is giving India hope. Jurel, on 28 off 45, looking in good touch.

India - 217/7 (70)

Tom Hartley with the last over of the day, and a maiden to Dhruv Jurel. A quiet period of play with only 15 runs coming in 10 overs. India did score 88 runs in the final session (35 overs) but also lost three wickets. They still trail England by 134 runs. Match firmly in England's control.

India - 219/7 in 73 overs
