The teams stride out to the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu and the customary pre-match rituals are underway. The Champions League anthem is part of that, and is played out amid an electric atmosphere. Kick-off in seconds now.

It was a close call at the start of the game only as Bayern's Konrad Laimer gets himself in a good position after receiving the pass at the edge of the D. However, his shot just goes over the post.

Bayern's Dayot Upamecano is the first one to reach the rebound, however his shot gets blocked. It's a lucky save for the opposition.

Bayern's Serge Gnarby fires a shot from the edge of the D and goes for goal but the shot is well saved by a defender, denying Bayern a lead in the match.

Bayern's Serge Gnarby tries to convert the loose ball into a gaol but the attempt is saved by the goalkeeper. The referee indicate to the corner flag and Bayern gets a corner.

Goaaalll... It's 0-1 in favour of Bayern Munich. Serge Gnarby lays down a beautiful ball for Luis Diaz, who shots it in the goal from a close range into the bottom right corner, rendering the goalkeeper helpless.

That the halftime whistle by the referee and both the teams are heading back to their respective locker rooms. Bayern Munich is ahead in the game by a goal courtesy to Luis Diaz's effort in the 43rd minute of the game.

What a start to the second half of the game. Michael Olisse provides a nice assist to Harry Kane and he fires a shot from the edge of the D into the bottom right corner. Bayern doubles their lead at the beginning of the 2nd half itself.

Tricao misses a big opportunity. He gets hold of a low pass and shots from a promising distance but the shot is a poor one and the ball goes way off the right post. Arsenal gets a free kick.

What a golden chance it was. Kylian Mbappe gets a cross inside the D and created some space for a shot and fires it in but it turns out to be inaccurate as the ball goes wide off the right post. Bayern Munich gets a goal kick.

Trent Alexander-Arnold shows great vision and gives a beautiful pass to Kylian Mbappe, who in return shows immense composure in the D to push the ball into the top of the net. RMA mange to cut the lead by one goal.

Madrid 1-2 Bayern 74'

Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) races through the centre to the edge of the box then lets fly with a rocket of a shot that flies a whisker wide of the right post.

Madrid 1-2 Bayern 90'

That's the final whistle by the referee and with it the stoppage time comes to an end. Mbappe scores a goal in the 74th minute but could not cut the deficit as Bayern takes a 2-1 lead into the 2nd leg of the quarter-final.
