South Africa are starting to lose their discipline as Mbatha becomes the second Bafana Bafana player to go into the referee's notebook. The midfielder appears to have been cautioned for dissent after his side were awarded a free-kick decision against them.

Repre remain in control with their early lead intact, while Bafana Bafana now have two players walking a disciplinary tightrope.

Mokoena tries his luck from distance once again, but the result is familiar. After sending an effort high and wide from over 40 yards earlier, the Bafana Bafana midfielder gets a cleaner connection this time from a slightly closer position, only to watch it fly into the stands.

South Africa continue searching for a breakthrough, but their attempts have lacked the accuracy needed to trouble Repre's defence.

The whistle goes and Repre head into the break with a narrow advantage in Atlanta. Czechia made the perfect start, with Sadilek's composed finish inside six minutes handing them the lead and putting Bafana Bafana on the back foot.

South Africa have shown signs of improvement as the half progressed but have struggled to create clear-cut chances, with their long-range efforts failing to trouble the Czech defence. The discipline issues continue to hurt Bafana Bafana too, with Mokoena and Mbatha both picking up yellow cards.

Repre will be pleased with their first-half display, while Bafana Bafana face a crucial 45 minutes to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Hlozek goes in late on Mudau and the South African defender stays down after the challenge, with the Czech forward landing heavily on him. There is a moment of concern, but Mudau is eventually able to continue, easing the Bafana Bafana bench’s nerves.

That is better from Bafana Bafana as a clever reverse pass almost releases Appollis through on goal, but a heavy first touch kills the move. He still manages to force a situation that looks like a corner, but after a double deflection the assistant rules it as a goal-kick instead. Frustration growing for South Africa as time ticks away in Atlanta.
