Former India captain Virat Kohli will be featuring in his first Vijay Hazare Trophy match after a gap of 15 years. While his pedigree in the 50-over format is unquestioned, stepping back into domestic cricket won’t be a simple walk in the park. Match sharpness, conditions, and the hunger of younger bowlers mean Kohli will have to earn every run rather than just go with the flow.

Just like Kohli, Rohit Sharma is also making his VHT comeback, however, he was last appeard in 2018. Interestingly, the Mumbai squad misses some renowned faces like Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer and few others. So, Rohit will have a lot responsibilities on his shoulders to anchor Mumbai's innings.

A superbly paced knock from the Andhra batter, who started watchfully before shifting gears in style. Bhui brings up his hundred off 88 balls, smashing nine fours and seven sixes, and has put Delhi under real pressure. With Nitish settling in at the other end, Andhra move to 184/3 after 36.4 overs, and a 300-plus total is firmly on the cards.

Bihar captain Sakibul Gani storms to a breathtaking 32-ball hundred, now the fastest Indian List A century and the third fastest of all time. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record-setting day gets pushed down the list as the onslaught continues. It’s complete one-way traffic, Bihar 551/5 with two overs still to go. Absolute mayhem.

They restrict Sikkim to 236/7 in 50 overs as the innings completely loses steam in Jaipur. It’s a modest target on offer, with 237 set for the chase. All eyes now turn to Rohit Sharma, who walks out with a Mumbai lineup that still has enough depth to fancy the chase despite a few key absentees.

Pinch yourself, this is real. Bihar pile up an astonishing 574/6, hammering 38 sixes in a jaw-dropping display that shatters the List A record. It was complete domination in the Plate group as Bihar looked a world apart from Arunachal Pradesh. Simply unreal.

Ishan Kishan on absolute fire. The Jharkhand skipper blazes to a stunning 33-ball hundred against Karnataka in Ahmedabad, making it the second-fastest List A century by an Indian. He finishes with a breathtaking 125 off 39 balls, hammering 14 sixes in a display of pure power. On a day of shattered records, Kishan adds his name in bold, three of the six fastest List A tons ever have come today. Simply unreal hitting.

They finish on 298/8, falling just short of the 300 mark but setting up a challenging chase for Delhi. It won’t be straightforward, yet if there’s one batter built for pursuits like these, it’s Virat Kohli, now firmly in the spotlight. With Simarjeet Singh claiming a superb five-wicket haul across all phases and Ricky Bhui top-scoring, the stage is perfectly set for a high-quality chase.

Here we go in Jaipur. Mumbai begin their chase with Rohit Sharma walking out to open alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi. All eyes are on Rohit as the stands buzz with excitement, phones out and cameras rolling, as fans eagerly wait to capture every moment of the Indian great’s innings.

There it is, the old faithful! It doesn’t take long for Rohit Sharma to roll out the trademark swivel-pull. Grainy footage or not, that shot soaring into the stands is unmistakable, classic Rohit, stamped all over it.

Star power everywhere you look. Wicket in Bengaluru, but job well done. Priyansh Arya departs for a superb 74 off 44, exactly the kind of impact knock Delhi needed up top. With Nitish Rana walking in at No. 4, Rishabh Pant is held back for now, likely at five. It’s over to Virat Kohli to take full control of the chase.

Meanwhile in Jaipur, Rohit Sharma edges closer to a century.

Magic, almost in sync. Two Indian greats hit their milestones at nearly the same moment, Rohit Sharma storms to a 62-ball century, featuring eight fours and as many sixes, while Virat Kohli quietly stamps his authority at the other end, moving to 53 off 40* with trademark precision. Different styles, same class. They remain exactly who they are.

Defending champions Karnataka have begun their 412-run chase in impressive fashion in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Skipper Mayank Agarwal played a brisk knock before being dismissed for 54 off 34 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal brought up a fluent half-century and steadied the innings alongside Karun Nair.

Rohit Sharma’s remarkable innings comes to an end at 155 off 94 balls, a masterclass that was simply a class apart. Sikkim finally get his wicket, but the damage is well and truly done. Mumbai are on the brink of wrapping things up, with brothers Sarfaraz and Musheer Khan at the crease, a fitting and heartwarming moment to close out the day.

Job done in Jaipur. Mumbai cruise home as Musheer and Sarfaraz Khan finish the chase neatly, sealing an 8-wicket win with 19.3 overs to spare.

Attention now shifts to Bengaluru, where Delhi need 78 more, with Virat Kohli batting on 108*, smashing his century on 84 balls and Nitish Rana steady on 37* as the chase heads into a decisive phase.

Nitish Rana shifts gears and races to a well-timed half-century, keeping the pressure firmly on the bowlers. With just 54 runs left for victory and Virat Kohli cruising on 118*, Delhi are making quick work of this chase.

Virat Kohli departs for a composed 131 off 101 balls, falling just short of finishing the chase himself. With only 25 runs left, the job is all but done. Rishabh Pant now walks in, tasked with wrapping things up for Delhi.

Delhi lose two wickets in quick succession while trying to finish the chase. Nitish Rana departs for a well-made 77, and Rishabh Pant follows soon after for 5. Just 8 runs still needed, a hiccup rather than a hurdle, but an off day for Pant this time around.

Ayush Badoni is cleaned up by Hemanth Reddy as Delhi go six down at the doorstep of victory, but Harsh Tyagi (4 not out) and Navdeep Saini (5 not out) eventually take them over the line. Delhi chase down Andhra's 299-run target in 37.4 overs, riding Kohli's majestic ton to make a winning start to their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign.

Opener Aarya Desai (77 not out) sticks around till the end as Gujarat chase down Services' 185-run target in 34.5 overs, with eight wickets to spare. Jaymeet Patel (27 not out) is there at the finish line alongside Desai as Gujarat get their Group D campaign off to a strong start.

Railways beat Haryana by six wickets in another Group D clash in Alur (Bengaluru). The Karn Sharma-led side chases down a 268-run target in 43.4 overs, with Ravi Singh hitting an unbeaten 109 off 81.

The opening round of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 group-stage matches concludes with Bengal getting the better of Vidarbha in Rajkot. India seamer Akash Deep hits an unbeaten 38 off 24 in the crunch moments as Bengal chase down a massive 383-run target in 48.5 overs, losing seven wickers along the way.
