Rajasthan brought in Shimron Hetmyer and Yash Raj Punja, while Gujarat Titans made one change with Prasidh Krishna returning to the XI. Both teams entered the contest level on points in the playoff race, but GT arrived with three consecutive wins.
Sent into bat first, the Titans’ openers dismantled the RR bowling attack from the outset. Captain Shubman Gill and the in-form Sai Sudharsan orchestrated a massive 118-run opening stand in just 10.5 overs.
Gill was particularly destructive, smashing 84 off 44 balls with nine boundaries and three towering sixes. Sudharsan played the perfect foil with a fluent 55, ensuring GT reached the halfway mark at a staggering 102/0.
Despite a brief lull, Washington Sundar (37* off 20) and Rahul Tewatia provided the late-innings fireworks, propelling Gujarat to a mammoth 229/4, their highest total of the season.
In response, the Royals’ chase was a story of "what could have been." Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave the home crowd hope with a blistering 36 off 16 balls, taking the team to a healthy 68/2 within the Powerplay.
However, the introduction of Rashid Khan fundamentally changed the contest. The Afghan leg-spinner produced a vintage spell, dismantling the middle order to finish with match-winning figures of 4/33.
As Rashid applied the squeeze, the pressure became insurmountable. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder (3/12) clinicaly exploited the scoreboard pressure, triggering a catastrophic collapse that saw RR lose their final eight wickets for just 84 runs.
The Royals were eventually bundled out for 152 in 16.3 overs, leaving stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal to reflect on a difficult outing as Gujarat surged toward the playoffs.
