RCB defeated KKR by six wickets to move to the top of the IPL 2026 points table
Royal Challengers Bengaluru climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with a commanding six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur after a rain-delayed encounter.
Asked to bat first, KKR posted a competitive 192/4 in 20 overs thanks to a superb innings from Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who scored 71 off 46 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. Rinku Singh added the finishing touch with an unbeaten 49 off 29 deliveries, while Cameron Green contributed 32. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of RCB’s bowlers with figures of 1/34 as Bengaluru managed to pull things back after KKR’s aggressive start.
The chase belonged completely to Virat Kohli. Coming into the match after back-to-back ducks, Kohli responded in vintage fashion with an unbeaten 105 off 60 balls, smashing 11 fours and three sixes. He attacked from the beginning, especially against Vaibhav Arora, and never allowed KKR’s bowlers to settle.
Jacob Bethell gave RCB a steady start before Devdutt Padikkal joined Kohli for a crucial 92-run partnership that shifted the game decisively in Bengaluru’s favour. Padikkal scored 39 off 27 balls before Kartik Tyagi provided brief hope for KKR with three wickets.
Kohli reached his fifty off 32 deliveries and later brought up his ninth IPL century to a standing ovation from the RCB dugout. The hundred also took him to 10 T20 centuries overall, placing him alongside David Warner in the all-time list.
Despite a stunning one-handed catch from Manish Pandey to dismiss Tim David, KKR never truly managed to regain control as Kohli continued to dominate the chase with calmness and authority.
Jitesh Sharma eventually finished the game with a boundary as RCB chased down the target in 19.1 overs, ending at 194/4. The victory moved Bengaluru to 16 points from 12 matches and strengthened their hopes of securing a top-two finish in the league stage, while KKR’s playoff chances suffered another major setback despite their strong batting effort earlier in the night.
