Pakistan Vs Bangladesh Highlights, Asia Cup 2025 Super Four: PAK Win By 11 Runs, Set Up Final Against India

Hello and welcome to the start of our live blog for the Pakistan vs Bangladesh match. It’s the penultimate Super Four match in this year’s T20 Asia Cup, but this is the most important match for both these teams so far, as a place in the final is on the cards. Stay tuned for pre-match updates and playing XIs when they are announced.

That is the big question for Bangladesh. Their fans were surprised when Litton Das did not come out for the toss against India. Jaker Ali, who replaced him as the skipper, informed that Litton could not recover from a rib injury that he had sustained during a training session.

Jaker said that the team will take a decision on Litton's availability before the Pakistan match. "We will wait till the last minute for Litton," he had said.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have faced each other 25 times in T20I matches.

The last three matches between the two sides came during Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh in Mirpur in July. Bangladesh won the series 2-1.

It's no secret that teams like to chase at Dubai, with more than 61% of the matches being won by the team batting second. So, what will be the winning total for the team batting first?

The average first-innings score in T20Is in 2025 at Dubai is around 158. However, this being a knock-out match, anything below 175 will be seen as a weak score, especially as both sides have shown their batting capabilities in the Super Fours.

The eather in Dubai right now is a tolerable 34°C, but it won't drop much even as the evening goes on. The humidity is around the 55% mark. The hot and humid conditions will make it a challenge for the players out on the pitch tonight.

Dew will be a significant factor in Dubai, which will be good news for the chasing side.

Bangladesh captain Jaker Ali won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said that he would have opted to bat first anyway.

Jaker Ali: "We would like to bowl first, looks a pretty dry wicket. We have been doing well while bowling first, so we are going with that strategy. As a bowling unit we have been doing well. We have to bat really well in this match. We just want to play for the championship, that's the mindset."

Salman Agha: "We wanted to bat first, so it's okay. Looks a good pitch. Scoreboard pressure is the key. We have defended well after scoring 150-plus. Beating SL was always great. We want to play good cricket and execute our plans. It's always important playing any final. We want to focus on this game, want to win this game. We want to play good cricket."

Three changes for Bangladesh, and none for Pakistan.

Pakistan: Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Salman Agha (c), Hussain Talat, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed.

Bangladesh: Saif Hassan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali (wk & c), Nurul Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman.

Here we go then. The semi-final begins!

Excellent, confident bowling from Taskin. There's very little swing on offer, which resulted in a third-ball boundary from the in-form Sahibzada Farhan. Taskin opted to go much fuller this time, and Farhan sliced it on to the arms of Rishad at backward point.

Saim Ayub is the new batter.

A terrible shot from Saim Ayub, and he gets his FOURTH duck of the tournament. He tried to hit Mahedi out of the park, but the contact and timing was all over the park, and he only manages to find Rishad.

Another tight over from Taskin, despite a lucky boundary from Farhan. Bangladesh are turning in the screws in the powerplay, and the pressure is mounting on the Pakistani batters.

A couple of boundaries in the last two overs, which yielded 12 runs. Fakhar and Salman are trying to get Pakistan's run rate going, which currently stands at 4.20 - one of the slowest powerplays in the tournament so far. Considering how good today's pitch is for batting, the batters must start firing soon.

This is the slowest start by Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 powerplays, with the run rate at 4.50 now. However, Salman took a slight risk against Mustafizur with a shot over extra cover that earned him a boundary. Pakistan need many more of these at the moment.

Rishad Hossain, you beauty! His deliveries were turning inside, and Fakhar was giving himself some room even in the early overs. He finally connects with one, but gets no power underneath, and Taznim takes an easy catch at long off.

Hussain Talat is the new batter.

Another one bites the dust, and Pakistan are shell-shocked at the moment. A bit shorter from Rishad, and Talat tried to cut it towards the offside. However, he sends it flying towards backward point, where Saif takes a stunning catch before the ball touched the ground. Splendid bowling, splendid fielding.

Mohammad Haris is the new batter for Pakistan.

Finally, a good spell for Pakistan, with 10 runs coming off that Mahedi over. Haris got a boundary off a poor delivery from the spinner, and two well-ran doubles have put the pressure on the Bangladeshi fielders.

What a stunning review from Jaker Ali, to remove his Pakistani counterpart Salman Ali Agha. Pakistan already started the over on the backfoot, losing a run after Haris failed to ground his bat in the last delivery of the previous over.

Mustafizur then took Salman by surprise with a cutter, beating his defence. Bangladesh appeal for a nick. The bowler does not look convinced, but Jaker is, and immediately goes for a referral. UltraEdge shows a clear spike, and Pakistan go five down.

That's something you don't see often - Bangladesh dropping a catch. Shaheen Shah tried to hit the ball over extra cover, and Nurul dived to his left to take the catch, but spilled it at the last moment. Considering their fielding level in this tournament, that should have been taken.

It was a googly from Rishad, and Shaheen Shah managed to send it high into the sky. Mahedi covered a lot of ground from long on, but fumbled the catch at the last moment. Is the pressure getting to the Bangladeshi fielders?

Shaheen made most of the repreives that he has been given by the Bangladeshi fielders, hitting a massive six off Tanzim - the first of the innings for Pakistan. 10 runs off that over.

And Taskin gets his revenge. Shaheen dispatched his first delivery out of the park with another massive six, but the bowler stuck to his strength. The batter swung his bat again at a full toss delivery, but this time got an edge and it went high into the air. Jaker Ali wanted the catch and took a very, very good grab under the lights.

Nawaz is the new batter for Pakistan.

Emon had to take that!! Nawaz, under pressure, tried to hit it flat over the sweeper cover. Emon was in the right place near the ropes and had all the time in the world, but could not hold on to the catch. To add insult to injury, the ball rolls out for a boundary.

The biggest over yet for Pakistan, getting 11 runs off Mustafizur. Haris and Nawaz have been rotating the strike brilliantly, convering the ones into twos. Haris ended the over with a six, spotting Fizz's intentions early and scooping it over fine leg.

Hundred up for Pakistan, with eight runs coming off Tanzim's over. There was a big run out chance too, as a mix-up between Haris and Nawaz, leading to the latter marooned at the non-striker's end. Emon, the fielder, throws it to the wrong end, and Pakistan survive.

Mahedi gets the wicket that Bangladesh were looking for! A good comeback from the spinner, too, after being hit for a big six by Nawaz in his first ball.

Mahedi's ball to Haris wasn't particularly great as well, but the batter hit it straight back towards to bowler, who takes an easy grab to break the partnership.

An absolutely sensational catch from Emon, who had earlier dropped a sitter. Nawaz, hitting a big six off the first ball from Taskin, tried to repeat the trick, but gets a thick edge sending it up in the air. Emon did very well, running backwards while keeping his eye on the ball before holding on to the catch.

11 runs from the final over, including a wild swing of the back that earned Faheem a boundary. Still, an absolutely superb innings from the Bangladeshi bowlers, restricting Pakistan to a sub-150 innings.

Interestingly, 135 is also the lowest score that Pakistan have successfully defended against Bangladesh in T20Is. That was back in 2011. Can the Green Shirts repeat the trick?

The Bangladeshi openers Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon are out on the pitch. Shaheen Shah Afridi to start the bowling for Pakistan. 136 needed to win in 20 overs for Bangladesh to reach the Asia Cup finals.

What an opening over this is turning out to be from Shaheen Shah Afridi. The extra bounce does the job for him, as Emon tried to swipe it but fails to connect with the middle of the bat. As a result, Nawaz has an easy catch at backward square leg.

Saif tried to get Bangladesh's chase off the ground with a big six off Faheem, hitting it over mid on. However, Shaheen restricted the run flow with another tight over, with only two doubles at the end. The run rate is 4.00 at the moment.

Bangladesh could have dismissed the dangerous Saif in the earlier delivery, but a massive mess-up led to a run-out chance going abegging. The next delivery, though, Shaheen gets his man. A fuller ball from the pacer, and Hridoy tried to hit it but managed a big outside edge. The ball went high up, again, and Ayub takes a very good catch at backward point.

Bangladesh get the danger man Saif! A top edge as he tried to get on the front foot and hit it legwards, and it flies to Ayub at backward point, who takes a much easier catch this time. Bangladesh go three down, and the powerplays aren't done yet.

Considering they have only 135 runs on the board, this has been a very good powerplay from Pakistan. Three wickets down, including the very dangerous Saif Hasan, and the run rate is at run-a-ball at the moment.

The Pakistani spinners now join the wicket-taking party! Mahedi, under pressure, tried to hit the floater inside out, but the connection is not in the middle. Talat couldn't have asked for an easier catch at sweeper cover.

Bangladesh's chase is halfway done, and they are yet to reach run-a-ball, despite Shamim's big six that finally ended his side's boundary drought. Still, the Bangladeshi batters are taking too many risks that they don't necessarily need to, considering the required run rate is still under 8.

Two dot balls from Ayub put the batters under pressure. Nurul felt compelled to go big. He goes out and tries to hit it big, but he could not clear the grasp of Nawaz at long off. Half of Bangladesh's batters are back in the pavilion.

The house of cards that is Bangladesh's batting lineup continues to fall. A one-handed shot from the skipper, with Bangladesh under immense pressure, and it goes as well as you'd expect at this stage. Nawaz has an easy catch at long off, and Pakistan have one foot in the finals.

After getting 12 runs off the previous over from Abrar, including a big six from Shamim, Saim Ayub has tightened the hold again, giving just five away. The required rate is now touching 12, with boundaries being very hard to pull off at the moment.

Shamim's night vigil comes to an end, and Bangladesh's chase looks all but over. It was a very pooor choice of shot from the settled Shamim, especially with Tanzim firing on the other end, there was no need to take risk that. There was no pace to hit it over the park, and he finds Talat at backward point.

Haris Rauf, who opted to stay on and continue despite suffering an ankle injury in the previous delivery, immediately gets his reward. It was an off-cutter that completely fooled Tanzim, who swings and misses, and the ball hits the top stump.

After being hit for an unlucky boundary by the new batter, Taskin, Haris responds imediately. This time, it is a quicker one. Gives little time for Taskin to time his shot, and the bails go flying.

Oh no, that was the chance for Pakistan to end this msiery for Bangladesh. Salman Agha was halfway into celebrating the win, but Nawaz drops a gift at long on. Pakistan will have to wait.

And it's all over for Pakistan, and it's Salman Ali Agha and co. who will play in the Asia Cup 2025 final against India on September 28. To Bangladesh's credit, the last wicket stand between Mustafizur and Rishad was quite good - 23 runs, the highest in thier innings.

However, Pakistan's bowlers have been superb, and they are the tournament's second finalists.
