Tom Latham and Devon Conway became the first-ever opening pair to hit hundreds in both innings of a Test match, as New Zealand took a formidable position against West Indies at stumps on Day 4 of the third Test at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. The Black Caps declared at 306 for 2 in the third innings on Sunday (December 21, 2025) to set a humongous 462-run target for the Windies.

At stumps, the visitors were batting at 43 for no loss, needing 419 more runs to square the three-match series 1-1. Brandon King was unbeaten on 37 and John Campbell on 2.  

Earlier, Latham (101) and Conway (100) earned a unique place in Test history with their 192-run partnership. The duo shared a 323-run opening stand in New Zealand's first innings of 587 for 8 and became the first pair in Tests to achieve a triple century and century partnership in the same match.

Kane Williamson, batting one down, had to wait padded up for more than 86 overs in the first innings and almost 40 overs in the second for his turn to bat. He took advantage of his opportunity Sunday to reach 40 not out. Rachin Ravindra made an unbeaten 46 from 23 balls, rushing as the declaration approached.
