Jacob Duffy drew first blood for New Zealand in Christchurch, removing Phil Salt for just 3 runs. Duffy bowled a slightly shortened delivery that nipped away, tempting Salt into a big pull shot. The batsman missed the timing, top-edging the ball high behind square on the off-side. Running in from the deep, Chapman timed his dive perfectly and completed a brilliant sliding catch at third man.

Matt Henry uses the short ball to his advantage, drawing a false shot from Jacob Bethell and then completing a good caught-and-bowled. Captain Harry Brook joins Jos Buttler at the crease and the onus is on the duo now to keep up the tempo without losing their wickets cheaply.

Jimmy Neesham nips the Brook-Buttler partnership in the bud! The Kiwi all-rounder delivers a fullish incutter that takes Brook's inside edge and hits his knee roll before cannoning into the stumps. Tom Banton has now joined Buttler in the middle.

Mitchell Santner gets rid of Tom Banton soon after the drinks break, and Michael Bracewell then bags the prized wicket of Jos Buttler in the following over. England are now in a spot of bother, with Sam Curran being joined by Jordan Cox.

Mitchell Santner completes an excellent spell, finishing with figures of 1/20 off his four overs. England are still scoring at less than seven an over, which is unlikely to challenge New Zealand in the chase.

There is an unwelcome interruption as a downpour emerges in Christchurch, and the umpires are compelled to stop play in the middle of the 17th over. The covers are brought on and the pitch is protected first. Let's see how long the showers last.
