A much-needed breakthrough for Mumbai Indians as AM Ghazanfar removes the in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad. After being taken on in the previous over, Ghazanfar pulls things back nicely and finishes with a wicket. Gaikwad looked in good touch but falls trying to attack again. Apart from the dismissal, a boundary and a few singles keep the runs coming, but MI will be pleased to break the opening momentum.

Ruturaj Gaikwad goes on the offensive and takes Hardik Pandya apart in a big over. A no-ball boundary sets the tone, and Gaikwad capitalizes with a crisp four followed by a towering six. Extras don’t help Pandya either, as the over slips away quickly. Samson rotates strike, but it’s Gaikwad who dominates, shifting momentum firmly in CSK’s favour early on.

A slightly scrappy but decent start to the innings. Bumrah keeps things tight early on, mixing his lengths well, but a no-ball boundary helps release some pressure. Ruturaj Gakwad: We would have bowled first as well. It was a 50-50 call. You have to bat well at Wankhede. We are not able to cash in in the couple of moments, we have to make sure we cash in and get that win. We are ready to go. All thanks to the legend (MS Dhoni), unfortunately he misses out today. Chennai Super Kings have brought in former Mumbai Indians pacer Akash Madhwal for this match. He replaces Ayush Mhatre, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership.

There remains uncertainty over the availability of former MI captain Rohit Sharma and ex-CSK skipper MS Dhoni for the clash. Rohit has been sidelined for a couple of matches due to a hamstring injury, while Dhoni is yet to feature in IPL 2026, having picked up a calf strain ahead of the season.
