Shreyas Iyer: Not at all, I was supposed to bowl as well. So kind of happy with the decision he took. (On working with Ricky Ponting) Our chemistry blossomed right from Delhi Capitals days. And he’s someone who gives all the sort of liberty and freedom to youngsters in the team. And the inspiration that he is himself, he has played brilliant cricket over the years. And we’ve looked upon him as one of the best cricketers in the world. So yeah, working beside him, it’s a phenomenal feeling. And under him at the same time at Punjab Kings, we know he’s got a plethora of ideas. So, I personally feel that it’s a blessing in disguise. Same team for us.
Ajinkya Rahane: We are going to bat first. Looks a good wicket, little bit on the drier side but it's a very good wicket and slightly less covering of grass as well. That’s the reason to put the runs on the board first. (What needs to be done to turn the tide in their favour?) It’s all about having that belief, having that confidence. Preparation-wise, we’ve been fantastic, each and every player. It’s all about winning the small moments in T20 format. It’s all about giving your best. And if you find that right moment, just give your best. So, as I said, we are confident as a unit and have that belief. (Get Sunil Narine up the order maybe?) We will think about that (smiles). Two changes, forced changes. Varun Chakaravarthy unfortunately got injured taking a catch in the last game and Sunil Narine is sick. Powell and Saini are in.
Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen to open for KKR at Eden Gardens as we get set for the action to start with PBKS' Arshdeep Singh to get things underway.
Bartlett Beauty! The Aussie quick delivers one of the most economical over in the IPL 2026 with two wickets, one four and three dots. KKR are rocked with two of their most feared batters back in the pavilion very early in the PP. Superb start for PBKS!
KKR: 16-2 (2 Overs)
We have the heavens being opening up at Kolkata as the players walk off with covers being brought on to cover the pitch as well as the ground.

Good news from Kolkata where we see the covers are coming off with the rain seem to have stopped. Action to begin soon. Visuals also show KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan at the stadium with his daughter.
Seems like the rain does not want to relent! The covers remain on with slight drizzle in Kolkata as we see cameras being panned a grey-haired SRK in the stadium. The Bollywood actor is treated to some dry fruits as he waits for the action to begin.
Rain continues to play spoilsport with no action yet at Eden Gardens. Word from the stadium is that the rain is now accompanied with strong winds as well.
Cut-off time for a 5-over game is 11.14 pm.
BIG news coming in from Eden Gardens that rain has stopped but the question on everyone's lips is that whether will we have time for a 5-over match?
Puddles have being formed around the boundary area as we see CAB President Sourav Ganguly checking on the work being carried out by the groundsmen. Umpires are at the stadium and we will have updates whether the action resumes or not. Tensed faces on either side of dugout.
Former cricketers Anil Kumble and Saba Karim, who are as experts on Star Sports, opine that the action might not resume given the conditions at Eden Gardens. Pools have been formed and Kumble thinks that it will take time for the groundsmen to clear the water.
