India produced a commanding performance to crush arch-rivals Pakistan by 61 runs in their Group A clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
After Pakistan elected to bowl, India posted a strong total of 175/7 in 20 overs, thanks to a belligerent innings from Ishan Kishan, who smashed a rapid 77 off 40 balls to anchor the effort on a tricky wicket. The platform he provided allowed India to recover from early hiccups and keep the pressure on throughout their innings.
In response, Pakistan’s chase never truly took shape as India’s bowlers struck early and often. The visitors were reduced to 13/3 in the powerplay, and despite a resilient 44 from Usman Khan that offered brief resistance, regular wickets saw Pakistan struggle. India’s bowling unit operated with precision, consistently hitting their plans to stifle scoring and force errors from the middle order.
By the 18th over, Pakistan were bowled out for just 114, falling well short of the target and handing India a comprehensive victory that also secured their place in the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and have opted to bowl first against India in ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Group A clash.
