The ongoing fourth Test match between India and England of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series has come to a defining moment as India conceded a 311-run lead on Day 4 and lost two early wickets at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.

Let's take a look at what happened on 26 July, which is related to India's tour of England 2025.

India Concede 600 Runs After 11 Years

England scored 669 runs in their first innings during the fourth Test match at Old Trafford in Manchester on Day 4. This marks the first time in 11 years that India has allowed more than 600 runs in a Test match. England's top order put significant pressure on India, with all but Harry Brook among the top six batsmen scoring more than 70 runs. Joe Root and Ben Stokes both made centuries, contributing to England's first score of 600 at home since 2011. The last time India conceded 600 runs was in 2014 when current England coach Brendon McCullum scored 302 runs.

Bumrah Leaks 100 Runs For The First Time

Jasprit Bumrah conceded over 100 runs for the first time in his Test match career. After seven years and 48 Tests, he reached this unwanted milestone. The World No. 1 Test bowler ended the innings with figures of 2 wickets for 112 runs, marking the worst performance of his career. He appeared to be out of form but managed to take the wickets of Jamie Smith and Liam Dawson.

Stokes Joins Elite List

The England captain scored 141 runs off 198 balls in the first innings of the fourth Test match, having earlier taken a five-wicket haul. Ben Stokes looked exceptional as he resumed his innings on Day 4 after retiring hurt due to cramps. Fully recovered overnight, Stokes punished the Indian bowling attack at Old Trafford. This marked his first century since 2023, ending a gap of 35 innings. He joined Jacques Kallis and Gary Sobers as the only three all-rounders to achieve 7,000 Test runs and 200 wickets. Additionally, he became the fourth England cricketer to take five wickets and score a century in the same Test match.

India's Poor Start

England took a 311-run lead in the first innings, and India came to start their fightback with the opener batters KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chris Woakes dismissed Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan in the first over to take a double-wicket maiden in the first over of India's second innings. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill managed to rebuild the innings after that, and at Tea break, India's score was 86/2 on Day 4. They are still trailing by 225 runs.
