ENG 13/0 (2)
Maheesh Theekshana strikes and England lose their 2nd wicket in the form of Jacob Bethell, who departs after scoring just 3 off 4 balls. ENG are in trouble in Pallekele in a high-stakes match.
ENG 32/2 (5.1)
The start is getting worse for England as they lose another wicket in the form of run-out. Tom Banton called for a tight run for Dasun Shanaka hits a bulls eye, getting Banton to move back to the pavilion. Skipper Harry Brook joins good-looking Salt (32*) on the crease.
ENG 49/3 (8)
4th one down! That's a big blow for England as they lose their fourth wicket in the form of skipper Harry Brook. Dunith Wellalage gets his 2nd wicket of the match, while Sam Curran joins the in-form Phil Salt at the crease.
ENG 77/4 (11)
Sam Curran skies a long ball and the long-on fielder sets himself and takes a fine catch to dismiss Sam Curran for 11 runs. Dushmantha Chameera is the bowlers, who got the priced wicket and Will Jacks joins the Phil Salt on the crease.
ENG 94/5 (13.2)
Sri Lanka are on top currently as England are six down and they still have to bat four more overs. Will Jacks, who has been in-form throughout the tournament holds the onus to take ENG to a competitive total.
ENG 114/6 (16)
That was a display of excellent bowling from Sri Lanka as they managed to restrict a strong England batting line-up to 146. Phil Jacks was the only batter who could get going against a disciplined SL bowlers, while Dunith Wellalage topped the wicket charts with 3 wickets.
ENG 146/9 (20)
Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara are out in the middle, with Nissanka taking strike. Jofra Archer has the new ball in hand and is set to begin the proceedings.
Jofra Archer’s over had plenty of drama as Sri Lanka moved to 19/1. The breakthrough came at 15/1 when Pathum Nissanka went for a whippy heave against a pacy, full delivery on the stumps, only to find Jamie Overton stationed at deep mid-wicket after a late field change. Overton kept his eyes on the ball despite the sun and completed a sharp catch to dismiss Nissanka for 9 off 8. Kusal Mendis then finished the over with a crisp boundary, making it a 12-run over overall.
SL 19/1 (3)
Will Jacks turns the game on its head with a stunning over as Sri Lanka slip to 21/3 in 4 overs, with just two runs coming off it. At 20/1, Jacks struck first by removing Kusal Mendis for 4, the batter chipping a simple return catch after misjudging the grip and pace of the flighted delivery. The very next ball made it worse, Pavan Rathnayake departed for a golden duck, charging down the track only to slice it tamely to Tom Banton. Suddenly reeling, Sri Lanka brought in Dunith Wellalage, who managed to block a couple before nudging a single to long-on to close a dramatic double-wicket over from Jacks.
Archer strikes again. A 143kph length ball takes the outside edge of Mishara’s bat, and Overton grabs a sharp low catch at gully, Sri Lanka 26/4 (5).
Sri Lanka are in deep waters as another batter bites the dust. Just after hitting a monstrous six, Kamindu Mendis gifts an easy caught and bowled opportunity to Liam, which he accepts gleefully. Sri Lanka are five down, with 94 runs required from 66 balls.
SL 53/6 (9)
Dasun Shanaka smashed a lofty six to Jamie Overton on the last ball of the 13th over to induct some life into the crowd, however it's still a long road ahead for the hosts as they still need 66 runs more off just 36 balls.
SL 81/7 (14)
That's it! Adil Rashid cleans up Maheesh Theekshana with a googly to wrap up the Sri Lankan innings for just 95 runs. Sri Lanka were shambolic with the bat today and eventually lost the match by 51 runs. All-rounder, Will Jacks picked up three wickets to win it for England.
SL 95 (16.4)
That's a wrap from our end. We'll be back with another blog soon, until then, bye bye.
