Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Akeal Hossain delivers the first over and Josh Inglis takes on the Caribbean spinner from the get go. He hits Hossain for two boundaries and a six in the very first over to take 16 runs from the over. It's a very good start by LSG on what looks like a belter of a pitch.
LSG 16/0 (1)
Josh Inglis has returned after an injury break and has straight away made an impact in the match. The Aussie batter has raced to 30 runs in just 10 balls. He played a mix of conventional and unconventional shots to take on CSK bowlers to all parts of the ground.
LSG 40/0 (3)
What a powerplay it has been for Lucknow Super Giants. Josh Inglis has changed the fortunes of LSG's batting and smacked CSK bowlers to all parts of the ground to accumulate 91 runs from the powerplay. Inglis has raced to 77 of just 25 balls and is looking pretty dangerous at the crease. CSK need to Inglis out as soon as possible or he'll take the match away from them in no time.
LSG 91/1 (6)
Josh Inglis Gone! That's a big wicket in the context of the game. Jamie Overton strikes for CSK as he dismisses Josh Inglis for 85 off just 33 balls. Inglis tries to ramp the ball towards fine leg boundary but ends up giving a simple catch to Sanju Samson. Aiden Markram joins Rishabh Pant in the middle.
LSG 112/2 (9.1)
Another wicket down as Aiden Markram gets run-out by a direct throw from Dewald Brevis. CSK have managed to take wickets but also put a break in the flow of runs at the Chepauk and they have done it by picking back-to-back wickets. Jamie Overton got the key wickets of Josh Inglis and Rishabh Pant in a single over which was followed by a dry spell of runs with 17 runs being scored in the next three overs and it's has now gone worse as Aiden Markram has now get himself run-out.
LSG 129/5 (12.1)
CSK bowlers have sucked out the momentum from LSG's innings with back-to-back wickets and immense fielding display. LSG have managed only 29 runs in the last fours and lost two wickets. Shahbaz Ahmed and Akshat Raghuwanshi have a big responsibility on their of bringing momentum into LSG's innings as we move towards the slog overs.
LSG 146/5 (14)
Shahbaz Ahmed (17*) and Himmat Singh (17*) have forged a mini-partnership for LSG towards the end. This is the last recognised pair of LSG and they would want both these batters to go till the end and gave the much-needed impetus in the slog overs.
LSG 177/6 (18)
Shahbaz Ahmed blasts a six off the last ball of the innings to take 9 runs from the over and take LSG innings to 203/8 after 20 overs. Though it's a good score at this venue but given the start Josh Inglis had given them, LSG would be wondering, if they are 15-20 runs short of where they could have reached. Shahbaz Ahmed played a crucial knock of unbeaten 43 off 25 balls to take out LSG from a precarious position after the middle-order collapse and get them to a good total.
LSG 203/8 (20)
CSK openers - Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson begin the chase on a positive note, hitting a boundary each to Mohammed Shami to take 11 runs from the over. The powerplay will be crucial for CSK as it could make the easier for them.
CSK 11/0 (1)
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson have given CSK the start they would have wanted. LSG pacer also helped them by serving them balls at their strong zones and both the batters latched onto any bad ball and played some mesmerising shot to provide their team a brisk start to the chase.
CSK 35/0 (3)
Urvil Patel is going berserk in Chennai as he rains sixes at the Chepauk. Patel takes Avesh Khan for three sixes in the 5th over and follows it by hitting 25 runs off Digvesh Rathi in the 6th over including three sixes and a four.
CSK 97/1 (6)
Shahbaz Ahmed eventually gets Urvil Patel catch out for 65 off just 23 balls but by that time the damage was already done and CSK now need just 72 runs off 60 balls. Patel struck the joint-fastest fifty of the IPL in just 13 balls and two fours and eight sixes during the course of his innings.
Bowled! Shahbaz Ahmed cleans up Ruturaj Gaikwad for 42 runs. Is it the opening, LSG were looking for as they were also cruising at one stage and the wicket of Jos Inglis changed the course of their innings. Dewald Brevis comes to the crease and starts his innings with a boundary.
CSK 153/3 (13)
There's a new turn in the match as Digvesh Rathi cleans up Dewald Brevis for 10. CSK still need 35 runs to win off 24 balls and suddenly it's starting to look that the ball is not coming onto the bat that well. Will the match do down the wire remains to be seen.
CSK 169/4 (16)
What an eventful match it has been. At one stage, CSK were cruising to the target but faltered in the middle but LSG's underwhelming fielding let them down as they spilled some easy catches which brought CSK back into the game against. With 10 runs needed off the last over, Dube slammed two sixes to finish the match in style.
CSK 208/5 (19.2)
That's a wrap from our end. We'll meet soon with another blog, until then, bye bye.
