Bangladesh beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the first ODI, bowling out the visitors for 114 in 30.4 overs before chasing the target in just 15 overs.

Former PAK cricketers left no stone unturned to bash their team with Basit Ali being the first in line. “First, shoot the man who told them to score a minimum of 60 runs in the ten powerplay overs,” he said. “He never played cricket on a ground. He just hands over a piece of paper. Did he not see what conditions are like here? Did he not know that even India have lost in Bangladesh?”

Nahid Rana took five wickets in the first ODI as he dismantled the Pakistani batting line-up. The visitors were reeling at 82/9 before Faheem Ashraf took them over 100-run barrier in the game.

PAK will hope for a positive start this time around as their openers Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat head to the crease with BAN looking for early breakthrough.

PAK openers are leaving no stone unturned in correcting the wrongs from their 1st ODI travails. Farhan and Sadaqat have raced to 45/0 in the first five overs and are going after the BAN bowlers by showing them no mercy.

Maaz Sadaqat has scored a fifty for the Pakistanis as they gather momentum against Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI in Dhaka. Bangladesh have not been able to repeat the performance from the first game with their bowlers struggling for lengths. PAK are going at 8.5 rpo and that will mean a big total to chase for the hosts.

Pakistan have lost Maaz Sadaqat for 75 after giving their side a positive start. The BAN skipper Mehidy Miraz struck caught off Litton Das as the hosts finally scalped a wicket.

After the fall of Maaz Sadaqat, the Pakistanis have lost two more wickets in quick succession, to leave them in a tricky situation. Bangladesh have done well to halt the scoring rate after the PAK openers dealt with them at blistering rate.

PAK 139-3 (24 Overs)

A quiet over to end the phase as Pakistan reach 163/3 in 29 overs. Salman Agha is looking composed on 26 (32) while Mohammad Rizwan grinds away on 16 (29). The duo have stitched together a 41-run partnership off 57 balls, steadying the innings after the earlier blows. The platform is set, Pakistan will now look to shift gears after the break.

The score moves to 202/3 with Salman Agha nearing a well-crafted fifty on 48 (48), while Mohammad Rizwan supports him on 31 (43). The pair have stitched together an 80-run partnership from 87 balls, stabilising the innings and giving Pakistan a solid base as the final phase approaches.

Pakistan slip to 231/5 after 39 overs as the off-spinner turns the game on its head. First, a controversial moment sees Salman Agha run out for 64 (62) after a mix-up near the pitch, sparking heated exchanges between the players. Just two balls later, Miraz strikes again, removing Mohammad Rizwan for 44 (59) with a catch taken by Rishad Hossain. Bangladesh suddenly right back in the contest.

They move to 259/7 after 43 overs as wickets continue to tumble in the death overs. Abdul Samad is run out for 11 (7) after a mix-up while attempting a second run, adding to Pakistan’s troubles. Faheem Ashraf provides a brief spark with a boundary and moves to 6 (3), while Shaheen Afridi has just arrived at the crease. Bangladesh are tightening the screws at a crucial stage.

All out! Pakistan’s innings comes to an end at under 50 overs as Rishad Hossain finishes things off in style. Mohammad Wasim tries to go big with a slog sweep but miscues it high towards deep mid-wicket, where Saif Hassan runs in to complete a safe catch. Rishad signs off with an impressive three-wicket haul, wrapping up the Pakistan innings and giving Bangladesh the momentum heading into the chase.

Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan Tamim walk out to begin Bangladesh’s pursuit. Shaheen Afridi has the new ball with a couple of slips waiting. Saif takes strike as the hosts begin their chase, hoping to repeat the strong start they produced in the previous ODI.

Bangladesh move to 13/1 after 3 overs as Tanzid Hasan Tamim falls cheaply for 1 (7). The left-hander tries to flick a length ball on the leg side but sends it straight to Mohammad Wasim at fine leg. Shaheen celebrates with a few words in his follow-through as Pakistan grab an early breakthrough in the chase.

Bangladesh slip to 14/2 after 4 overs as Mohammad Wasim Jr removes Saif Hassan for 12 (12). The opener tries to hit a length delivery down the ground but ends up finding Abdul Samad at mid-off, who completes a comfortable catch. It’s a double blow for Bangladesh early in the chase, with both openers back in the pavilion and Pakistan firmly on top.

Bangladesh slip deeper into trouble at 15/3 after 5 overs. The left-arm quick castles Najmul Hossain Shanto for 0, with a skiddy length delivery that keeps a bit low and crashes into the stumps. After already removing Tanzid earlier, Shaheen now has two wickets, leaving Bangladesh in early strife with their top order rattled inside the powerplay.

Bangladesh are 27/3 in 6.3 overs when the umpires decide to stop play as a precaution with thunder and lightning around the ground. Although there’s no rain at the moment, the players have been asked to walk off for safety reasons and the covers are coming on. They were looking for a cautious start after the early collapse but both Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy had to shift gears knowing they have to score fast if they have to stay in the game. In the phase after the break, they have successfully executed it scalping 33 runs in just 21 deliveries.

Bangladesh move to 74/4 after 13 overs as Maaz Sadaqat removes Litton Das for 41 (33) with his first international wicket. Litton goes for the sweep but misses, and the ball crashes into the pads. The umpire initially turns it down, but Pakistan review immediately and DRS confirms it’s hitting the stumps. A huge breakthrough just when Bangladesh were building momentum.

Bangladesh slump to 101/7 after 19 overs as Maaz Sadaqat continues his dream spell. He fires in a sharp delivery from wide of the crease that sneaks between Rishad Hossain’s bat and pad and crashes into the top of middle stump. Rishad departs for 2 (5), giving Sadaqat his third wicket, as Pakistan tighten their grip on the match.

They move to 104/8 after 20 overs as Pakistan continue to chip away at the wickets. Another breakthrough arrives in the over, leaving the hosts in deep trouble with their lower order now at the crease. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are trying to steady things for the moment, but Bangladesh still have a long road ahead with the required runs climbing and wickets running out.

Haris Rauf dismisses Tasin Ahmed and with it Pakistan clinch the victory. An all-round performance from Maaz Sadaqat brings Pakistan on level terms in the ODI series. They secure a comfortable 128-run victory in a rain-curtailed encounter. A much-improved performance for them with the bat as Sadaqat and Salman Ali Agha score half-centuries and then the bowlers step up to finish the job. Haris Rauf and Sadaqat scalp three wickets each and Shaheen Shah Afridi took two. The series will now be decided on March 15, in the last and final ODI.
