Hello and welcome to yet another live coverage of Group B clash between Bangladesh and Hong Kong at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Stay tuned for updates.
Bangladesh and Hong Kong have met only once in T20 internationals, with Hong Kong winning that encounter and Bangladesh yet to register a victory.
Skipper Litton Das has been one of Bangladesh’s most reliable performers, and all eyes will be on how he shapes up in this clash. On the other side, Hong Kong’s seasoned campaigner Ehsan Khan, with 127 wickets in 92 T20I innings, remains their trump card. His duel against Bangladesh’s top order could well decide the tone of the match, but if he fails to strike early, fans might witness a high-scoring contest.
On Thursday, September 11, Abu Dhabi is expected to be extremely hot with clear skies. Daytime temperatures could reach 43°C, feeling like 46°C in the sun, with very high UV levels. Winds will blow from the WSW at 13 km/h, gusting up to 32 km/h, and there is no chance of rain or thunderstorms. The scorching heat and bright conditions could make it challenging for players, affecting stamina and ball grip.

Early drama in Abu Dhabi! A big LBW appeal against Zeeshan Ali is turned down, with Bangladesh opting for a review. Replays confirm no bat, and Ball Tracking shows it hitting middle — but with impact deemed Umpire’s Call, the on-field decision stands. A lucky escape for Hong Kong’s opener!
A tidy opening from Mahedi Hasan, keeping things tight with just two runs conceded. Now it’s over to Taskin Ahmed, who will share the new ball and look to make early inroads for Bangladesh.
Breakthrough for Bangladesh! Taskin Ahmed gets his man as Anshuman Rath edges behind. The review confirms a clear spike on UltraEdge, leaving Rath with no escape. Taskin strikes early, and Bangladesh draw first blood in Abu Dhabi.
A big scare for Zeeshan! He was miles short despite a desperate dive, but Hridoy’s direct-hit attempt missed by a whisker. Bangladesh let him off the hook, and Hong Kong breathe easy for now.
A lapse in awareness from Zeeshan! Replays show he failed to ground his bat inside the crease, resulting in a short run. Only a single is added to Hong Kong’s total.
Clean strike from Sakib! Hayat, fresh off a six, is undone by a peach that swings away and crashes into off stump. A fiery roar from the bowler as Hong Kong slip to two down early.
Bangladesh made early inroads in the match removing two of the top-order batters. Tasking Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib were the bowlers to remove Anshuman Rath and Hayat. However Zeeshan Ali continue ti build inning as Hong Kong reach 34/2 after powerplay.
Big over for Hong Kong as Zeeshan Ali opened his hand and collected a maximum and a boundary of Rishab Hossain. A 13 runs over for Hong Kong.
Bangladesh have the upper hand at the halfway stage, restricting Hong Kong to 64/2. Zeeshan Ali is holding firm with an unbeaten 24 off 28, while Nizakat Khan has chipped in to stitch a 34-run stand for the third wicket, steadying the innings after the early exits of Rath and Hayat in the powerplay.
Zeeshan’s resistance ends! He miscues a pull off Tanzim, and Mustafizur sprints in from midwicket before diving full length at mid-on to complete a stunning catch. A sharp grab under pressure gives Sakib his second and Bangladesh a crucial breakthrough.
A solid spell from Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who finishes with 2/21 in his four overs. Despite conceding 11 in his final over, his early strikes kept Hong Kong in check and gave Bangladesh the upper hand.
16 overs are done and Hong Kong are building their innings piece by piece. Skipper Murtaza has taken the charge and has already cruised to 24 off 16 and Hong Kong have reached 106/3 in 16 overs.
Disaster for Hong Kong as Murtaza is run out by a country mile! Nizakat’s jab towards extra cover comes to a halt as his captain charges in, leaving Murtaza stranded mid-pitch. A sharp throw from the field reaches Mustafizur, who removes the bails with precision, adding another breakthrough for Bangladesh.
Nizakat’s resistance ends in the 40s after a solid innings. Stepping down the track to a flighted delivery, he mistimes a shot off the bottom of the bat, sending it high in the air. Tanzim moves swiftly to long on, taking a comfortable catch and wrapping up the crucial wicket for Bangladesh.
Big breakthrough for Bangladesh as Kinchit Shah is trapped LBW! The leg break, pitching on off stump and turning sharply, beats his sweep attempt and strikes in front of middle stump. He reviews, but ball tracking shows three reds — the on-field decision stands. Hong Kong lose their fifth wicket.
Hong Kong finished their 20 overs at 143/7 against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi, recovering well after early losses. Taskin Ahmed struck early to remove Anshuman Rath (4) and Babar Hayat (14), but Zeeshan Ali and Nizakat Khan steadied the innings with a 41-run partnership, before Zeeshan fell for 30.
Skipper Yasim Murtaza provided a late surge with 28 off 19 balls, and Nizakat added 42, but a late collapse saw Hong Kong lose momentum and finish at 143/7. Bangladesh bowlers were led by Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/21), with Taskin (2/38) and Rishad Hossain (2/31) also chipping in, leaving Bangladesh with a challenging chase to start their campaign.
We’re back for the chase as Bangladesh begin their reply with Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan at the crease. Ayush Shukla shared the new ball for Hong Kong but conceded nine runs in the opening over, with the Bangladeshi openers finding the fence twice to get the innings off to a positive start.
Shukla finally gets his reward after an expensive over, dismissing Emon with a clever slower ball. The batter mistimed his big shot, sending it high towards deep mid-wicket where Hayat made no mistake. A pumped-up Shukla celebrates as Hong Kong strike early.
A expensive over of 13 runs from Ehsan. Bangladesh getting the momentum of securing boundaries. A wide and a bye first and then a lose delivery cut through point for boundary by Tanzid.
A superb effort from Nizakat gives Hong Kong their second breakthrough. Tanzid looked to go straight but a hint of movement off the pitch forced a miscue. Nizakat, sprinting back from mid-off, recovered brilliantly after an initial misjudgment to complete a sharp catch over his shoulder.
It’s drinks at the halfway mark, and Bangladesh are well placed in their chase of 144, needing 70 more from the last 10 overs with eight wickets in hand. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy are steady at the crease after Hong Kong’s new-ball pair, Ateeq Iqbal and Ayush Shukla, struck early in the powerplay to keep their side in the contest.
Hong Kong went upstairs after a big LBW shout against Litton, but the review didn’t go their way. The off-cutter from just outside off beat the attempted late cut and struck him high on the front pad, but replays couldn’t confirm whether the ball brushed the glove before pad. With no conclusive evidence, the on-field call of not out stood, leaving Hong Kong frustrated.
Bangladesh need just 22 from the final five overs, and Yasim Murtaza comes on to finish his spell, hoping to spark something for Hong Kong.
Litton Das brings up a fine half-century, reaching the mark in just 33 balls with a well-placed pull to deep square leg. The Bangladesh skipper has anchored the chase confidently, leading from the front and keeping his side firmly on track for victory.
Iqbal strikes again to remove the dangerous Litton Das, who departs after a match-winning knock. Looking to go big down the ground, Litton inside-edged a full delivery onto his stumps, ending his fine innings. The Bangladesh skipper walks back after setting up the chase, while Hong Kong cling to some late hope.
Bangladesh got their Asia Cup T20 2025 campaign off to a winning start, cruising past Hong Kong by seven wickets with 14 balls to spare. While Hong Kong managed early breakthroughs, Litton Das’s composed fifty set up the chase perfectly, handing Bangladesh their first victory of the tournament and leaving Hong Kong with back-to-back defeats.
