Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly rejected Rajnath Singh’s claim that former Prime Minister Nehru wanted to build the Babri Masjid with public funds, calling it a “lie” and a “WhatsApp university story.”
Congress leaders, including Pawan Khera and Manickam Tagore, pointed out that historical facts do not support Singh’s statement, noting Nehru’s policy that government money should not be used to construct religious buildings.
Other MPs, including Manish Tewari, Imran Masood, and Tariq Anwar, criticised Singh for reviving old controversies, urging the Defence Minister to focus on present-day strategic and developmental challenges instead of twisting history for political narratives.
