With this, the state's overall COVID-19 tally rose to 81,37,067, while the death toll remained unchanged at 1,48,420, said a health department bulletin.
The state's case fatality rate was 1.82 per cent, while the recovery rate stood at 98.17 per cent.
The bulletin said 13 patients recovered from the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking their overall count to 79,88,530 and leaving the state with 117 active cases.
It said 3,872 coronavirus tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, pushing up their cumulative tally to 8,61,83,398.
The department said since December 24, when the health department started screening travellers coming from overseas, 5,33,222 international passengers have arrived at Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur airports.
Of these, an RT-PCR test was done on 12,104 and 27 positive swab samples were sent for genome sequencing, said the bulletin.
All positive samples are referred for WGS (Whole Genome Sequencing), it said.
Genome sequencing is a sophisticated laboratory test that can map out the whole genetic makeup of a virus from a patient's swab sample and help in the detection of a new variant.
Out of these 27 coronavirus-positive patients, Maharashtra accounted for 13 and among them, seven were from Mumbai, three from Pune, and one each from Navi Mumbai, Amravati, and Sangli.
Also, five patients were from Gujarat, two each from Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Goa, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Odisha, and Telangana, said the bulletin.
