CBI case dates back to 2009
The CBI registered the case on July 13, 2009, against Pathak and others after receiving allegations that they had cheated a private individual by promising him a job in Parliament in exchange for money.
Following the investigation, Pathak and another accused were named in the chargesheet filed in December 2009.
The CBI said Pathak subsequently stopped appearing before the trial court and repeated attempts to trace him were unsuccessful.
After the completion of the legal process, the trial court declared Pathak a proclaimed offender on September 28, 2016.
Pathak arrested in Ludhiana
According to the CBI, information obtained during field verification indicated that Pathak was living in Ludhiana, Punjab.
The agency said that after conducting technical analysis and gathering other inputs, it launched an operation and arrested him in Ludhiana on August 19.
The arrest brings to an end his long period of evading arrest in the case, the agency said.
Separate case involving alleged fake IAS officer
In a separate incident, police in Bihar's Khagaria district arrested a man accused of posing as an IAS officer and falsely claiming to have links with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
According to PTI, the accused, identified as Manish Gupta, was arrested earlier this month after police received information about his alleged activities.
Khagaria Superintendent of Police Bhanu Pratap Singh said Gupta lived in Jamalpur under the Gogri police station area and was allegedly impersonating a senior government official.

Police claimed Gupta was also involved in fraudulent activities in different parts of Bihar.
A Tesla car, an SUV, more than 31 litres of imported liquor and other luxury items were reportedly recovered from his residence.
