Amritpal Singh In First Video Since Escape: 'If Govt Intended To Arrest...'

In a minute-long video, radical preacher Amritpal Singh confirmed that he remained at large and slammed the Punjab Police for arresting Sikh youths during their crackdown on him.

Donning a black turban and a shawl, radical Khalistan preacher and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh has appeared in a new video for the first time since the police crackdown and appealed to his followers and supporters in India and elsewhere to unite with him and "fight against the injustice".

In a minute-long video, that has gone viral on social media, the radical preacher confirmed that he remained at large and slammed the Punjab Police for arresting Sikh youths during their crackdown on him.

He said if the state government had the intention of making an arrest, police could have come to his house and he would have given up.

"The Almighty saved us from the attempt of 'lakhs of cops' who were sent to make an arrest," the fugitive said.

The video appeared amid reports that the radical preacher might surrender.

Earlier on Monday, the Jathedar of Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs, Giani Harpreet Singh gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the Punjab government to release all Sikh youths who were held during the police crackdown against Singh and his aides.

Punjab Police has launched a major crackdown against Amritpal Singh and members of his outfit 'Waris Punjab De'. They have been on the lookout for the Khalistani leader for the past 12 days.

Singh has changed his look nearly a dozen times as he gave the police a slip and escaped their dragnet. His cavalcade was intercepted in the Jalandhar district recently but the fugitive managed to get away.
