Former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has completed eight years in prison, while his children have raised concerns over his incarceration and the legal proceedings against him.
Bhatt is serving a life sentence in the 1990 custodial-death case and was separately convicted in a 1996 case involving the alleged planting of drugs.
Bhatt gained national attention after making allegations related to the 2002 Gujarat riots, though courts have questioned key aspects of his account.
