After the right wing organisation Hindu Yuva Vahini complained that religious conversion was taking place at a Church in Uttar Pradesh, police stopped a prayer meeting there attended by more than 150 people, including 11 American tourists.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, a report was filed against Yohannan Adam, the pastor of the church at Dathauli of Maharajganj district by the Yogi Adityanath founded organisation. The organisation accused the pastor of luring hindus and converting them into Christianity. The pastor has denied the charge.

"No prior permission was taken before the meeting. We stopped the meet after a complaint was registered. A probe is underway and appropriate action will be taken if the charges are correct,” the report quoted police officer Anand Kumar Gupta as saying.

The Hindu right wing group also accused the US nationals present in the church of luring 'innocent' and 'illiterate' hindus and converting them into Christianity. The report quoted Krishna Nandan, a Hindu Yuva Vahini leader as saying “The presence of US nationals indicates that innocent and illiterate Hindus were being converted by the missionaries, who lured them with money to change their religion,”

However, the US tourists were let off after the police checked their visas and relevant documents. This reportedly did not please the organisation.
