New Camry launched in India more than a year after global debut.

  • Is offered with petrol-hybrid drivetrain only; is more powerful than the outgoing version.

  • Comes with 9 airbags, three-zone climate control, park assist and more.

  • Toyota has launched the tenth-gen Camry in India today with a price tag of Rs 36.95 lakh (ex-showroom India). The new Camry is available in India with hybrid powertrain only, like the outgoing model. It is, however, available overseas as a petrol-only model.

The tenth-gen Camry made its global debut in 2017 and is longer, wider and more spacious than the previous version. Its hybrid powertrain gets a 2.5-litre petrol engine with the electric motor. The net output of the powertrain is 218PS. The torque figure remains unchanged at 221Nm.

The Camry comes equipped with safety features like 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, park assist, traction control and vehicle stability control. There is also a new steering wheel with a new layout for the steering-mounted controls for audio, telephony and cruise control as well. It also gets three-zone climate control and a capacitive touchscreen on the rear armrest.

The Toyota Camry will now resume its rivalry with the likes of the Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Superb and Honda Accord Hybrid.
