Despite their inconsistent form of late, Chelsea returned to winning ways against rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League 2023-24 on the night of November 6, 2023, Monday. The Blues fell behind early on head coach Mauricio Pochettino's first visit back to his former club, but recovered from the spot after Spurs' Cristian Romero saw red. Tottenham's day worsened after another red on the other side of the interval to Destiny Udogie; Chelsea capitalized, scoring three - all through Nicolas Jackson - to collect maximum points. (More Football News)

Yet, Chelsea's big win did little to appease social media, who remained critical of the Blues' wastefulness on a night they could've ran a cricket score. Striker Jackson came under scrutiny in spite of his hattrick, which he completed with almost the final kick of the game to take his tally to six goals in 13 games across all competitions.

Chelsea played the majority of the second half 11-V-9 but found it difficult to break Spurs down, whose suprise high-line tactics despite a significant disadvantage caught Pochettino and his team by surprise. As such, Tottenham came out of the match with widespread plaudits for their brave approach, while Chelsea earned the ire of critics for not making more of a golden opportunity.
