The newly promoted Punjab FC will play at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL), which begins on September 21.

The ISL begins in Kochi with a match between Kerala Blasters and Bengaluru FC.

Last year's champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant will kick off their campaign on September 23 at home against debutants Punjab FC, while East Bengal visit Jamshedpur FC two days later.

Punjab FC were promoted to the top tier of the ISL earlier this year after meeting all of the Premier 1 licencing criteria.

To match the licence criteria, they chose the national capital's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where the now-defunct Delhi Dynamos club had played their ISL home games.

Before settling on Delhi's JLN, the Punjab team considered alternative venues, including Ahmedabad's Transtadia Stadium.

To compete in all AFC club competitions, ISL clubs must apply for an "ICLS Premier 1" licence, according to Asian Football Confederations (AFC) standards.
