Ahead of their high-octane clash against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, India registered a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 encounter in Delhi. India captain Rohit Sharma blasted an 84-ball 131 and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah bagged a four-wicket haul as India, chasing 273, romped home with 90 balls to spare. Most Centuries In ODI World Cup
This was Rohit's seventh ton in the 50-over World cup, which is the most centuries by any player in the marquee tournament. Rohit overtook former India great Sachin Tendulkar, who had amassed six centuries in World Cup games. It is an illustrious list which features former Sri lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara and Aussie batting legend Ricky Ponting next, both of whom scored five centuries in the ODI World Cup.

Fastest World Cup Ton By An Indian     
Rohit got to the three-figure mark off just 63 balls, making it the fastest century by an Indian batter in the history of the ODI World Cup. The Indian skipper broke his 1983 World Cup-winning counterpart Kapil Dev's long-standing record. Kapil had gotten to his century off 72 balls en route his legendary 175-run knock against Zimbabwe during India's victorious campaign 40 years ago.

Most Sixes Across Formats
Rohit struck five sixes in his innings to overtake former West Indies explosive batter Chris Gayle in the most number of sixes hit by any international across formats. Gayle had smashed 553 sixes in 551 innings across formats, and Rohit is now at 555 maximums after Wednesday's effort. Rohit needed just 473 to eclispe Gayle's mark. 

Most Tons In Successful World Cup Chases
This was Rohit's third century in a successful chase for India in an ODI World Cup game. That is the most by any player in the history of the tournament, surpassing the two tons each in successful WC chases by former top-order batters Gordon Greenidge, Ramiz Raja and Stephen Fleming.  

Most Successful 250+ Chases In World Cup
This was India’s seventh successful chase of a 250-plus score in the ODI World Cup, which is the most by any side. In fact, no other international team has more than five such successful chases in the big-ticket tournament.

Highest Run-rate In Successful 250+ Chase In World Cup
India got to their target of 273 in 35 overs, scoring at a rapid clip of 7.8 runs per over. This was the highest run-rate recorded by any team in a successful 250-plus chase in a World Cup game. 

Bumrah's Best Bowling Figures In World Cup
Bumrah's dazzling figures of 4/39 in 10 overs were his best ever in the 50-over World Cup, eclisping his previous best figures of 4/55 against Bangladesh at Edgbaston Stadium during their 2019 Cricket World Cup clash.
