Inter have announced Cristian Chivu as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The Romanian announced his departure from Parma earlier on Monday, before Inter confirmed he had signed a deal through to June 2027.

He replaces Simone Inzaghi, who departed Inter days after their Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain to join Al-Hilal.

This is just Chivu's second managerial job, having spent just three months at Parma.

He led them out of the relegation zone to ensure their top-flight safety after losing just three of his 13 games in charge (W3 D7).

Chivu registered a 23.1% win rate, averaging 1.2 points per game during his tenure.

The 44-year-old spent seven years with Inter as a player, winning three Serie A titles and the Champions League, while his first coaching job was with Inter's youth teams, which he began in 2018.

His first game in charge will be at the Club World Cup, with Inter's tournament beginning against Monterrey on June 17.
