Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set for a fiery clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 2 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on 1 June, with the outcome deciding who plays Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final match on 3 June. Shreyas Iyer’s side will look to secure their final berth after topping the group stage, while MI aim for a record sixth title.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens, but it was shifted after the India-Pakistan conflict halted the league proceedings. Now, concerns about rain playing spoilsport have been raised at the new venue, as Ahmedabad has been experiencing light rainfall for the past few days.

In fact, a Punjab Kings training session was affected by light showers, and fans are worried about a potential rain-interrupted match during Qualifiers 2. Let’s have a look at the provisions in place in case of rain interruptions or washout, including cut-off time, reserve days, and more.

PBKS Vs MI, IPL 2025 – Five Over Cut-off Time

As per the updated IPL guidelines, in case of rain-related interruptions, an extra 120 minutes (two hours) have been allotted to the Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians, Qualifier 2 match to be completed on the scheduled day. So, a full 20-over match can be started as late as 9:30 PM IST.

If delays persist, overs will be reduced to a minimum five-over contest, with a cut-off time of 11:56 PM IST.

PBKS Vs MI, IPL 2025 – Reserve Day Provisions

Unlike last year, IPL 2025 has no provisions for a reserve day for the Qualifier 2 match; only the final match has such a facility. So, in the unlikely event of the Punjab-Mumbai match being abandoned due to a wet outfield or rainfall, the match will not be replayed.

Instead, PBKS, who topped the group stage with 19 points, will go through due to being the higher-ranked team, while fourth-placed Mumbai Indians will be eliminated.

PBKS Vs MI, IPL 2025 – Ahmedabad Weather Report

Despite Ahmedabad experiencing frequent light showers in the past few days, there’s little chance of significant rainfall during match time today. As per both Google and AccuWeather, there’s a zero per cent chance of rainfall in the evening.

The humidity level will be around the 50% mark. Even if rain does interrupt the match, it shouldn’t be heavy enough to disrupt the match length, so fans can rest assured despite the lack of a reserve day.

The IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST on 1 June.
