Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while speaking at the AI Summit in Paris, hailed the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI), said that it is “writing the code for humanity” in this century.
PM Modi emphasised the remarkable potential of AI to revolutionise sectors such as polity, economy, security, and society at large, noting that its development is occurring at an unprecedented scale and speed.
“India is ready to share its experience and expertise to ensure that AI future is good for all,” he said. “We need to democratise technology.”
Co-Chairing the AI Action Summit along with French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi said that AI is changing the polity, economy, security and society.
"There is a need for collective global efforts to establish governance and standards that uphold our shared values, address risks and build trust," Modi said.
Talking about the apprehensions about job losses due to AI, Modi said that history has shown that work does not disappear due to technology but its nature changes and new types of jobs are created.
"We need to invest in skilling and re-skilling our people for an AI driven future," Modi said.
India’s leadership in AI adoption and data privacy also featured prominently in Modi’s address. "Today India leads in AI adoption as well as in techno-legal foundation in data privacy: PM Modi at global summit," he highlighted.
PM Modi emphasised that India has successfully built a digital public infrastructure for over 1.4 billion at very low cost.
