PM Modi Holds Talks With Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik To Elevate India-Oman Strategic Partnership

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Saturday, emphasizing the expansion of bilateral cooperation across various domains, with a particular focus on trade and investment.

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, on his inaugural visit to India as the leader of Oman, arrived in Delhi on Friday for a state visit. The External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, shared the welcoming gesture by PM Modi at Hyderabad House, stating, "Giving a boost to India-Oman Strategic Partnership! PM @narendramodi warmly received His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman at Hyderabad House, setting the stage for bilateral discussions," in a post on X.

Bagchi highlighted the agenda of the talks, stating, "Agenda includes taking stock of bilateral ties and charting pathways for the future collaboration between the two countries."

The day commenced with a ceremonial welcome for Sultan Haitham bin Tarik at the fore-court of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Ministry of External Affairs had previously underlined the significance of the visit, stating, "This first state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to India marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between India and the Sultanate of Oman."

India and the Sultanate of Oman, identified as strategic partners, have witnessed an upward trajectory in their bilateral trade and investment relationship over the past few years.
